Born in Prerov, Czech Republic, in 1976.
In 1993 he represents Czech Republic at the XXIV International Physics Olympiad in Williamsburg, Virginia, USA.
In 1994, he represents Czech Republic at the XXV International Physics Olympiad in Beijing, China.
From 1994 to 1999, he studies Optics and Optoelectronics at Palacky University, Olomouc, Czech Republic.
In 1997, he gets a Bachelor degree in Optics.
In 1999, he receives a degree Master of Science. Master thesis: Quantum statistics of light in Raman and Brillouin couplers. Thesis advisor: Professor Jan Perina.
From 1999 to 2002, he is a Ph.D. student at the Department of Optics, Palacky University, Olomouc, Czech Republic, Ph.D. supervisor Professor Jan Perina.
From 1999 to 2000, he spends one year as a visiting Ph.D. student in the group of Professor Ilya Averbukh, Department of Chemical Physics, Weizmann Institute of Science, Israel.
In 2000, he spends 3 months as a visiting Ph.D. student in the group of Professor Ulf Leonhardt, School of Physics and Astronomy, University of St. Andrews, Scotland.
In 2002, he successfully defends his Ph.D. thesis “Conditional generation, reconstruction, and cloning of quantum states of light”and gets the Ph.D. degree.
From 2003 to 2004, he is a postdoctoral research fellow in the group of Professor nicolas Cerf, QUIC, Universite Libre de Bruxelles, Belgium.
In 2003, he is awarded the “Czech head”prize, Doctorandus category, for his scientific achievements in the field of quantum information theory.
In 2003, he is awarded the “Vaclav Votruba”prize for the best Ph.D. thesis in theoretical physics.
